Ripley's Tail - Beetle speaks April 19, 2021 10:46 1 Comment
Dog Date: 19th April 2021
General Sitch: Hassled
Specific Sitch: Feeling a bit like the kid is taking over my entire life.
I am part Cairn Terrier, part big sis, part tired girl. This is my tail.
You all asked for it! Last month I checked with you if you would like to hear a little from Beetle and you answered with a resounding yes! As he follows me around all of the time anyway, I guess he should appear here. So here is Beetle, in his own words. He is still only little so doesn't have perfect diction like what I do...
"My name is Beetle and I wants to be just like my sister what I loves. I kinda know that her name is Ripley but can't pwonounce it yet so to me it is WipWee. In the morning time I wakes up and shouts 'Mummy-Daddy-WipWee, Mummy-Daddy-WipWee' and those are the words what come out of my little mouth quite a lot.
My world is mainly the liitle village in which we live. It is not a squillion miles from the Welsh-English border, in fact not really a squillion miles from anywhere. We do lots of walks around the village and go off lead quite a lot. I follow WipWee everywhere and we do run and run.It is wery important to get lots of cuddles from Mummy and Daddy, but mainly my day involves jumping on WipWee and having TOOFY BATTLES. Sometimes I accidentally on purpose do jump on the wrong end of her and she does bite my face, which is fairy nuff. Oh and there is barking (sorry, not sorry). As my big boy voice is getting better there is howling - yay - especially at wery threatening fings like the fence or unexpected plant pots.
Yesterday we went to a place called Brizzle and I did meet my hu-sis and hu-bro. Thems very nice and they have a big garden to run around in. To say thank you I did three poos, three I tell you. We did some cuddling, but mainly there was WipWee play. Bit tired now.
WipWee says enuff now and so I'm going to go outside and pwactiss. This week I am going to learn how to cock my leg on the ferny things without falling in the pond. Laters alligators (are they in the pond?) Beetle xxxx mwhah."
...so welcome to the world of madness that is my little bruv. We think he is quite entertaining in a scruffy-brat-minion kind of way. This week he is being taken by Mummy-my-Mummy-xxx ™ to Aunty Dawn to be hand-stripped. Daddy-my-Daddy-xxx ™ and I are staying home for half a day of blissful silence. Also biscuits, there must be biscuits, mmmmm biscuits.
Take care out there, and bite the baddies when you meet them,
Run-run, facebite-facebite, snack-snack, hide

Ripley's Tail - Incoming November 11, 2020 16:28 1 Comment
Dog Date: 10th November 2020
General Sitch: Hassled and hairy
Specific Sitch: Hiding at the back of the sofa.
I am part Cairn Terrier, part big sister. I think it may be ok. This is my tail.
Well that was a shock. In fact a double-shock. In fact a triple shock - what a week that was.
Shock 1: they did take me to aunty Dawn to be hand-stripped. As a redhead my pain threshold is apparently lower than for other Cairns and it does hurt me. I no likey. Aunty Dawn is very good at this, and I do love her. But even so I did snap and snarl and bite and fight and scratch. Aunty Dawn did say WORDS! I sulked for two days.
Shock 2: fireworks. I is a big brave girl but I confess that although Mummy-my-mummy-xxx ™ and Daddy-my-daddy-xxx ™ take no notice of them and project an air of complete calm, I no likey. There were a few days of that shiz last week and it did upset me a bit. I sulked for two days.
Shock 3: My new toy arrived. It is called Beetle and I am told that it is my new bruvver and best friend. Here it is:
On it’s first night I was still in mid-sulk so when it did leap on me I did grrr and not wag very much. Perhaps I was not at my perky best. But after a good night’s sleep on the bed and away from it I did dream of when I was little and used to do zoomies around the house with my real bruvvers and sisters. So I put my big girl tail on and came downstairs to see it.

It did leap on me. It did chomp my face. It did land on my back. It did follow me everywhere and I realised that this is going to be my life from now on. PLAYYYYYTIME! I did wag, and grrr nicely and chomp it back and suddenly we were friends.
The good news is that it is no longer it. He is now my little bruvver and WE do stuff together. We do fighting, and woogling, and running around the garden, and tug-of-war with squeaky pea-pod. WE do chomp each other and play so much that WE sleep like we have been bonked on our doggy heads with a mallet. At the moment this Cairn has a safety net. Firstly, Beetle is too tiny to jump up on the sofa so I can escape for a while out of his reach, and secondly he gets put in his beddy for ‘time outs’ when he is getting over-tired. I remember this used to happen to me as well!
Daddy-my-daddy-xxx ™ says Beetle will be chasing my tail for the next 15 years. Oh I do hope so…
Wish me luck readers, I am exhausted!,
Chomp-chomp, wag-wag, play-play, zzzzz
